LaserVision was first introduced in America in 1978 and was nationwide by late 1980. Japan's introduction of the format was
1981. Both America and Japan utilized NTSC format televsion at the time. Europe received LaserVision via Philips in 1982.
Philips delivered PAL players and discs to both the United Kingdom and Germany. The launch player was a version of what
America first saw as Magnavox's 8000 videodisc player.
