Rising from the ashes of the format's first label, MCA DiscoVision, comes
MCA VIDEODISC, INC. First seen in late 1981 with the release of Olivia Physical, MCA used the 'VIDEODISC'
moniker until 1983, when it adopted the MCA Home Video name for all video formats (VHS, Beta, CED and LV).
These early MCA VIDEODISC titles are an interesting mix. Naturally,
Universal films are present, but you'll also see licensed product from Crown International with Galaxina
and My Tutor being examples. While most studio labels had exclusively motion picture releases, MCA
includes non-feature film product like Jim Fixx On Running, Peter Allen & The Rockettes,
and the mentioned Olivia Physical, and other similar titles.
A numbering system change happens with the arrival of the MCA VIDEODISC label. The early MCA
DiscoVision numbering remains for some titles. The Deer Hunter for example carries 10-026 and Halloween
III is 11-020, but MCA's numbering found on other formats begins to be found on LV releases.
