"The Rose" is one of the last LDs to be released in the MVC-style jacket. This title is found among 20th Century-Fox
Video and CBS/FOX Video releases when it first appears, perhaps it was delayed for some reason? It is also one of the few
to offer CX-noise reduction. Pressed in the U.S., this title has a unique statement(see below) explaining the CX system that
is not found on any other LD release. The statement refers to the benefits of CX-encoded vinyl LPs, rather than LDs.
Even for the time, the audio and video transfer is poor. The audio has high-frequencys that come and go and a VERY noticable
'wow' to the sound. The video is dark, contrasty, and streaky with blown-out highlights and 'after-image' ghosting. Re-released
under the CBS/Fox label, the only difference was the opening logo's and disc labels. The disc transfer was exactly the same.
