"Carrie" is among the MVC titles with dual U.S. and Japanese pressings available. American pressings generally suffer from dropouts, roll bars, and other defects. The Japanese pressings tend to be of better quality, although crosstalk on side 2 was often a problem, especially on the top-loading players. Both the U.S. and Japanese press runs were done in less than a year of each other. The Japanese version usually, but not always, has a small black oval sticker on the back jacket reading, "Made in Japan." Naturally the disc labels also state Japan for country of origin.

The audio and video transfer is quite good, with the Transamerica "T" logo opening the film.
