The only known pressings of "The Black Stallion" are Japanese discs in U.S. jackets with a "Made in Japan"
sticker applied to the back of the jacket. Running 119 minutes, it is among the longest sides pressed for MVC. The film is
presented in Stereo, but with the surround information removed. Pioneer acheived this by running the original Dolby MP encoded
audio through a Dolby Cat-150 professional Surround Decoder and recording the Left, Center and Right channel audio onto disc,
dropping the surround track. This unfortunate non-surround mastering is found on a handful of discs from the early '80s and
no apparent reason is known.
